History notes
This 1967 DeTomaso Vallelunga is one of approximately 50 Ghia-built production examples of De Tomaso’s first series production model built between 1965 and 1967. Chassis 136 is believed to have been delivered new to the US, where it was purchased in 1987 by a former US Army surgeon and collector of Italian cars who reportedly discovered it on a trip to Northern California and remained its steward for several years. The car was then sold to a private museum collection in Japan, where it underwent a refurbishment before being purchased by the selling dealer and returned to the US. Featuring fiberglass bodywork finished in red over a pressed-steel backbone chassis, the car is powered by a mid-mounted 1.5-liter Ford Kent OHV inline-four that is mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional features include four-wheel disc brakes, coilover independent suspension, 13” Cromodora alloy wheels, an aluminum fuel tank, black vinyl interior upholstery, and a speedometer displaying miles per hour. This Vallelunga is now offered with invoices from service performed in May 2026 and a clean California title.
