This exceptional Mangusta was acquired by the current owner in 1978 from Germany, where it was delivered new. At that time, the car was exported from Germany to France and has remained there ever since. A photo of the car in the history files shows that it was once blue but is now finished in red. Records on file show that the car was serviced upon his purchase, which includes the purchase of four Goodyear Arriva tyres. Incredibly, these are still fitted to the car today. Its black interior appears to be original, and the car also retains its original tool roll and jack. A fantastic basis for a restoration or to be preserved as is, this is truly one of the most exciting cars in the Petitjean Collection. Please note that all of the vehicle in the Petitjean collection have been on static display for many years. As such, none of the vehicles are in running condition and all of them will require mechanical servicing to be made roadworthy. | — | — | — | — |

The car was recently restored by the Ferrari Specialist Steve Tillack in Redondo Beach California, USA, who bought it for a client for $72,000.00 and then performed $178,000.00 of restoration work, full mechanical plus a beautiful dark gray interior. The car has all its original documentation and was initially copper bronze with black interior. After suffering several paint changes through the years, it was taken to bare metal and repainted a dark silver by the previous owner. Even though the paint job is excellent, the car will again be taken to bare metal and repainted in its original color. |

On 21 March, ready for export to the US, the marque's principal market, the car was bought by Mr Herner, who, for the record, also had to part with a " comfortable " supplement to take it to Germany. He covered just 3000 km before putting the car away in his garage the following year. It was not until 1996 that the German marque specialist Roland Jaeckel purchased the car. He started a serious restoration project: chassis, coachwork, engine, interior and accessories all found themselves in a condition close to new. At this point, the original light blue metallic colour was replaced with a stunning orange livery. Once the work was completed, the car was sold in 2000 to Mr. Helm, who in turn sold it to Mr. Kohler in 2002. In 2004, its previous owner, a model enthusiast, brought the car to France. While the Mangusta has much to offer enthusiasts of Italian GT cars from the 1960s, the examples powered by the Ford V8 302 may appear a little subdued in character to some. For this reason the French owner approached the engine builder Roush, with a reputation for achieving success in competition in the US and for meticulous upgrading of the Ford V8 in collaboration with the company from Detroit. Roush's mechanical intervention on this car is impressive: a Ford V8 302 engine was rebored - the famous Stroker engines - increasing its capacity from 5-litres to 5.7-litres. This rebuild added special cylinder heads and flywheel in aluminium, as well as forged rods and pistons. The engine is fed by a Holley four-barrelled carburettor, and the engine cooling system - critical for the mid-engined Mangusta - improved significantly. A reinforced McLeod clutch was fitted to deal with the increase in power. The original ZF gearbox, able to cope with this increase in power, did not require any modification. When the work was completed, the engine was dyno-tested by the Roush team and recorded power of 420 bhp and torque of 60mkg, which must surely make this one of the most formidable Mangustas in the world. This unique Mangusta will be delivered to the buyer with an impressive file detailing its history, and including a copy of the MA1266 factory record, a copy of the owner's manual, and a copy of the factory import document when it returned to Europe at the time. This car undoubtedly constitutes one of the best " cocktails " of elegance, rarity and performance, in the closed circle of great GT cars. Its appearance, in a dazzling colour combination, is breathtaking. Its current owner, an important collector from the Cote D'Azur bought it in the Retromobile Artcurial auction in 2016. As a gentlemen driver he confirmed us that the car is stunning to drive. This is, as named by Classic Cars magazine, quite simply " The Wildest Mangusta ! I wrote to the factory shortly after buying it, and they sent a nice letter back confirming where it was sold, the engine & gearbox numbers, also saying that it was built in 1972. I had been after one for 30 years, and as there are only possibly 10 in Australia, it has been a long task to find one, I was eventually rewarded with this one owner low mileage car that the owner had never taken anywhere but his local garage! The car is in good original condition and all I have been doing is going through it refurbishing as required, I have replaced all the coolant pipes, hoses & pump, also the engine electrics, clutch master and slave cylinders and pipes as well as the brakes.
