Identity

Modifications: This 1972 DeTomaso Pantera is a pre-L example that was built in Modena, Italy in March of 1972 and entered the US through the port of Los Angeles. The car was restored in the 1980s by the treasurer of the Pantera Owners Club of America, with whom it remained until being acquired by the seller’s friend in June 2004. The engine had been fitted with a roller cam and was reportedly not ideal for street use, so the previous owner took it apart in order to perform a rebuild. Unfortunately he passed away shortly after, and a group of his friends reassembled the engine. The Cleveland V8 is bored .030 over and features Carrillo rods, 10.7:1 pistons, a Crower camshaft, ported heads, throttle body fuel injection, and a large oil pan. The previous owner’s widow kept the car stored until the seller’s purchase in December 2015, and about 200 miles have since been added. This Pantera is now being offered with California blue plates, a Marti report, records of the engine rebuild, Pantera literature, the original front wheels, two sets of keys, spares, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
