Note the custom chin spoiler in the picture, created by the owner at this time. Much later in 2002, after owning this car for 14 years, the owner traded this car in on a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang. As of January 2008, we have learned that this Mangusta has experienced an extensive and detailed restoration and now resides on the East Coast in the hands of a car collector with wonderful taste for quality and rarity.

It has a Tan interior which is beautiful. This car was featured in the April 2004 edition of Sports Illustrated as well as Pantera International's Summer 2004 publication. It was offered for sale in 2005 with 66k miles. It is our guess that this is one of the most detailed restorations to date, and shows the high caliber which Pantera International is known to carry.

This 1970 De Tomaso Mangusta (chassis 8MA930) has been with the second, current owner for 38 years and looks to be in good driver level condition throughout, with a particularly nice and possibly original interior. The seller claims that the car is fully functional and in good mechanical order, further noting that it’s 100% complete including factory fitted smog equipment. Find it here on eBay in Camarillo, California with a $295k BIN. Said to be a California car from new, this one’s 302ci Ford V8 also identifies it as a US market car–ROW models ran a 289 with 306 HP. With a massive 85 fewer horsepower in Federal trim, it won’t be fast, especially as it sounds to remain completely stock, but these cars had handling problems from new and are best viewed as rolling artwork with a nice soundtrack–you wouldn’t want to go canyon carving in one. There’s no word on originality, but this color looks as if it could be factory, and overall condition looks to be of a good driver level. The interior is described as being in “as-new” condition, and apart from a few very small signs of use here and there, it does look to be quite well preserved. The bright green leather is appropriately funky for a 70’s supercar, and plays off the light seafoam exterior nicely, as well as giving a welcome pop in the otherwise all-black (including seats, dash, and carpets) cabin. Power windows and A/C work, though in true vintage Italian supercar tradition, the latter is said to have always been marginally effective. Says the seller: “Cooling, charging, brakes and engine are all in excellent condition. The car starts, runs, stops and turns, with fresh rubber, brakes and fluids. It is started and driven around the block monthly to keep the juices flowing, and everything in working order. Original air cleaner and smog comes with car.” Mileage is given as 22,772, and though the seller says they believe this makes it the lowest mileage example existent, BaT has featured a claimed 9k mile example in the past.	22772	—	John Bohannan, CA	—

Finished in yellow over black leather, the car is powered by a 289ci Ford HiPo V8 mated to a ZF five-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. Additional features include 15” polished aluminum Campagnolo wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, coilover independent suspension, fixed quad headlights, an updated air-conditioning system, and a Grundig cassette player. This 1970 De Tomaso Mangusta (chassis 8MA960) was reportedly driven for just six years prior to be put away until 2014, and this may help explain how mileage remains at a fairly low 27k as claimed by its seller. By the looks of things, storage may not have been completely weathertight however, as the car now exhibits a fair bit of rust. On the plus side, it is claimed to be “99%” complete, including the factory Ford 302 motor and ZF 5-speed transaxle–definitely big pluses considering it’s estimated only ~250 of the original 401 made still exist. Find here on eBay in Northridge, California for $150k OBO. These gullwing engine bay lids are the defining styling element of the Mangusta, and they’re still comprise of the coolest rear-end treatments ever seen in a production car. More rust is visible here, but it sounds like trim and lights are probably included. Here’s a good look at the the new driver’s side rocker as well as a missing portion of the body. Wheels are correct, and those cool push-button door openers made their way to the Pantera before disappearing very early on in production. The cabin looks better than expected, if you can ignore what appears to be missing floors and the visible rust-through on the passenger side rocker. The steering wheel is correct, and note the under-dash A/C. Here’s a better look at the new rocker, the lovely OEM wood Ferrero steering wheel, and a complete dashboard with correct instruments and switchgear. Unfortunately, wiring is a mess by the looks of things–bring a diagram. This is the best provided photo of the original Ford-sourced, 230 hp 302ci V8. There’s no word on whether it runs, but being a 302 it probably shouldn’t be difficult or expensive to sort if needed. The original ZF 5-speed transaxle is also included, and disc brakes hide at the corners. We’d plan on going through everything, but in the meantime just opening and closing the engine bay doors would be plenty to keep us sustained until Driving Day.	—	—	Juergen Vlek, CA	—

The car is Black (Originally Blue) and has a Red interior, and is otherwise original with low miles. This striking Mangusta was sold in late 2007 to a Classic Car Dealer in Missouri, and is thought to have been sold to one of their customers.

The car presented here, chassis number '8MA 0994', is one of only 50 single-headlight versions built. This car's early history is unknown, although it is believed it had been in California all of its life. '0994' was imported into the UK on 2nd February 2008, having been bought from Matthew Chitea in Placerville, California. It was imported by top UK de Tomaso restorer Roger Brotton and fellow marque specialist Phillip Stebbings.
