The following details are from a sales advertisement in 2006, and is very well written. We do not yet know of the new owner, but we do know that they must be pleased with this fine example of the Mangusta. Mid-TYPEd-Ford 302 w/ hydraulic lifters, Autolite carburetor, ZF 5-speed transaxle. Tires- front-Yokohama 205/70R-15, rear-Yokohama 235/75R-15, Front mounted aluminum radiator with 2 electric cooling fans, Leather interior, electric windows, heater, Front trunk fully lined, Factory aluminum wheels, Factory tool kit, Dual Ansa exhausts, Chassis- Steel tube frame and steel body except aluminum bonnet and gull-wing , Factory air conditioning- Upgraded to rotary compressor w/R-12 in 2004, Original safety exemption sticker is still on the windshield-see photo, Original Italian oil sticker is still on the windshield.-see photo, Original manufactures foil safety exemption sticker is still on the bulkhead glass-indicates, VIN number and fabricator Alberto see photo, Spare Tire- still has the original Pirelli Cinturato tire, All glass and chrome are just about perfect. History: June 26, 1970- Sold to Executive Leasing Co. of St. Louis, MO. 1995-2003- Owned by Peter Renucci- collector- Grand Rapids, MI. 2003-2004- current owner- Stuart Larman-Loveland, CO. UPGRADES AND REPAIRS (2004): TYPE- Replaced water pump and all associated hoses/clamps. Rebuilt carburetor, Header tank-replaced radiator cap with factory Italian cap, Starter- added ground cable for better connection, Radiator- Removed from car and professionally cleaned and tested. Defective thermo switch replaced. One of two electric cooling fans replaced with Stal High- Performance 1390 CFM fan, 2-30 amp fuses added for safety, Both electric cooling fans rewired through new relays-old system had no relays, Manual overide dash switch still works, Battery- knife cut-off switch added, Starter Solenoid- Lucas unit replaced with new USA switch, Headlights-headlight doors are operated manually via lever in cabin. Both cables replaced, Clutch-hydraulic slave cylcylinder and hose replaced with new unit, Interior- currently reupholstering the driver's seat; reupholstered passengers seat with leather, Made custom floor mats, Carpet-only a small piece of carpet in the left TYPE well has been replaced. All the rest is original. Body- replaced rubber gaskets on both doors with factory rubber. Replaced rubber gasket on body for passenger door. Added emergency pull wires for bonnet and both gull wing hatches in case original cables fail. This car is a blast to drive! It starts up everytime, hot or cold. Although the 302 is a bone stock Ford motor and can't rev passed about 4,300 rpm, it has sufficient torque to nicely move the car which weighs about 3,100 lbs. Since almost 70% of the weight is on the rear wheels I have not pushed it hard enough to spin it but I have driven it very briskly around many corners and it holds like crazy, I attribute the fine roadholding to new radials compared to what was put on the car in the late sixties. I've only had the car up to about 110mph, it gets a little darty at that point. I'm 6-4" tall and 210 lbs and I fit in the car with 1/2 to spare over my head; the seat is a little tight so if your waist size is more than a 36 your butt will hurt after a while. I've lengthened the throttle linkage so my leg can stretch out a little more (this can be reversed if desired). The car has never overheated, esp with the new Spal high volume fan. Since the A/C condenser is at the rear of the car with its own cooling fan, running the A/C does not hurt the TYPE cooling. I drive the car about 1 hour every 2 weeks.
